PHOBIA: Persistent, irrational fear or dread of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it.When attempting to dance with a commitment-phobic man, plan on having no plan except his plan. At first glance, you will notice him rushing towards you across the dance floor as if his very life depended on you extending your hand and simply uttering a grateful “yes.” You, on the other hand, are not so sure. This is how your dance begins. This is not how your dance will end.Initially, his persistence convinces you that you have finally found your Mr. Right. He loves you like you’ve always dreamed. He says the right words, does all the right things, and promises you “Happily ever after.” Then, the moment you believe is the moment he begins to leave you. You swallow your pride and promise him more than he ever promised you…so he will stay.In the process of letting go, you begin to question your sanity for what was once white is black. What was once true is false. What was once Mr. Right is now Mr. Oh. So. So Very. Wrong.Even as you take your first steps on your long journey back to reality, you feel the gnawing fear that you may never trust the words “I love you” ever again.
Although he will initially give all evidence to the contrary, the commitment-phobic man avoids intimacy because he finds it difficult, dare we say impossible, to:
~ Trust
~ Become dependent on a woman
~ Tolerate romantic partners who, quite naturally, want intimacy
The phrase “If it looks too good to be true, it probably is” was never truer then when you are the prey of a commitment-phobic man.
The one thing you must remember is that this was never about you.
